BirdLife Malta has recently started literacy sessions at Simar Nature Reserve in Xemxija linked to a government initiative called ‘Magic of Stories’.
BirdLife Malta has teamed up with the National Literacy Agency in collaboration with Malta Libraries to offer a unique experience to children who choose to attend these free one-hour sessions which take place every Thursday. The programme is intended for children aged four to six years and their parents and each session features the sharing of stories from books, songs and other fun activities for this age group.
At Simar, the children are also engaged in activities linked to the book being read around the nature reserve, exploring and getting hands on with textures, colours, sounds and numbers through nature. The main objectives of this programme is to promote a love of books, and to develop the child’s imagination through fun and stimulating activities. Parents are also made aware of the benefits of sharing books with their children on a daily basis.
The weekly storytelling sessions in English at Simar take place on Thursdays between 16:30pm and 17.30pm and parents can book their children for the session by calling 2598 2990 during office hours or sending an email to [email protected]. So come and join us at Simar Nature Reserve every Thursday for children’s storytelling sessions! Enjoy this free one-hour activity surrounded by beautiful nature.
