Location: Ċirkewwa Passenger Terminal (meeting point)
Exciting news for all young bird lovers! Are you between 14 and 26 years old? Join us on an unforgettable adventure as we explore the picturesque wildlife landscapes of Comino. This birdwatching walk is the perfect opportunity to go out for an enjoyable spring walk in a protected bird sanctuary and learn how to identify birds.
Starting off at the passenger terminal in Ċirkewwa, where we will meet at 6:30am, we will embark on a boat ride that will take us to the stunning Comino. Along the way to the island and during the walk, we will capture pictures of various bird species, and identify them with the help of bird IDs and seasoned professionals.
We’ll also be attending a bird ringing session at the ornithological station where we’ll learn about bird migration patterns and the importance of studying them. We’ll witness the ringing process and get the chance to ask the experts any questions we may have.
After a fun and informative day, we’ll relax and enjoy a picnic together where we can bond with like-minded peers, and even compete to see who can identify the most birds from photos!
This event is perfect for both experienced birders and those who are curious and want to explore nature in a new way. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to connect with nature and learn more about the fascinating world of birds.
Please note that although the event will be free of charge, boat tickets cost €10 and this fee is to be covered by participants who will pay on site. The capacity of this event is limited to only 20 people so book now to avoid disappointment.
You can leave earlier if you wish. Deadline for registration is Thursday 20th April 2023.
This event forms part of the the It’s Time Erasmus+ project aiming at the creation of a BirdLife International Youth Council that will represent an international community of young people who will develop and lead local initiatives to protect the environment.
