Support as a BirdLife Malta member does not only help to protect the habitats and wildlife of our special islands, it also provides a community of like-minded people and comes with a number of benefits!

Malta’s spectacular coasts, cliffs, and garrigue are home to an astonishing variety of wildlife, and are a stopover for a number of migrating species. But much of Malta’s natural environment is under threat from development, habitat degradation and pollution which have all taken their toll. To top it off, these threats have prevented us from having the chance to explore and enjoy Malta’s natural beauty – even when it is right on our doorstep.

Birdwatching at Għadira Nature Reserve

membership with BirdLife Malta can help to protect our natural spaces, offer a sense of escape from our hectic lives and also helps you become part of a community of people with similar interests. There are a number of ways your membership and support can benefit our natural environment but also benefit you!

Visit a tranquil natural space, or maybe four!

Immerse yourself in the natural beauty of one of our four nature reserves: GħadiraSimarForesta 2000 or Salina. Spend an hour or two strolling through fragrant Pine trees searching for an elusive chameleon or admiring an elegant egret. From woodlands to wetlands, salt pans to reed beds, our nature reserves can provide you with an unforgettable experience and an escape from the hustle and bustle.

Enjoy an exclusive Members’ Day

Klabb Ħuttaf event for our young members

Have you ever wanted to connect with like-minded people or wondered what goes on at our reserves? Throughout the year we host four days when we open our reserves exclusively to members! We start the event with informative and interesting talks about wildlife, the work of BirdLife Malta or the natural spots around the island. Then you will be involved in exciting activities led by field specialists before finishing with some nibbles and refreshments. This is a chance to be a part of the BirdLife Malta community by meeting your fellow members, create friendships, and learn all about nature!

We also run exclusive days for our younger members! Young nature explorers can get closer to wildlife, have fun whilst learning about natural spaces and make new friends by joining our Klabb Ħuttaf events. These events run six times a year and offer exciting activities led by our talented education team – even the adults can join in! Keep an eye out for the next Members’ Day in our newsletter or contact [email protected].

Stay up-to-date

All members receive Bird’s Eye View magazine. Family members receive also Il-Ħuttafa for children

All our membership packages offer exclusive members’ magazines. For our adult members, the Bird’s Eye View is packed with interesting facts about the wildlife of the Maltese Islands, beautiful nature walks, and cutting-edge research that is happening in Malta right now! Whilst for young naturalists, Il-Ħuttafa magazine includes exciting activities, wildlife facts and a vibrant species poster.

What’s more, each member will receive updates from our monthly newsletter that will keep you up-to-date with the work of BirdLife Malta, our upcoming and past events, as well as all the species to be seen that month!
