Our Events & Activities Group is organising another day trip to Sicily. Our destination this time will be Cava d’Ispica, a picturesque river valley between Ispica and Modica.
The long canyon from the Bronze Age is a wonder in the joy of light with over 13 kilometers of nature and history. It’s long history has left behind, among other sites, the prehistoric tombs of the Sicani, underground oratories, beehive tombs, Byzantine crypts and sanctuaries with traces of ancient frescoes… and a castle.
Our walk will be approximately 14km long and is medium-to-difficult in some parts, mostly off-road, and includes some slippery stretches especially if wet. Suitable footwear is recommended.
The day trip also includes a late lunch at Agriturismo Il Melograno in Modica, which will include antipasti, starters, main courses, dessert, wine and water.
Meeting Point & Time:
We will meet at Virtu Ferries Passenger Terminal, Marsa at 03:45 and check-in at 04:00. The catamaran will depart Malta at 05:00 and return to Malta at 22:15.
Participation:
Open to all +14 years old.
Fee:
- €138 for members, €98 for Under 26
- €158 for non-members, €118 for Under 26
Price is inclusive of catamaran fare, port charges, coach transport, guides, lunch and tips. Cancellations will be subjected to a charge of €20.
Booking:
Bookings will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis up to Thursday 12th September 2019 unless taken up before.
Priority booking will be given to BirdLife Malta members. Participants wishing to become members can do so directly online here or by contacting any member of our Events & Activities Group committee.
