Date: Sunday, 30 April 2017
Time: 09:00 – 15:00
Location: L-Aħrax tal-Mellieħa
We have accepted the invitation from Żibel – a young, spontaneous group of environmental guardians – to team up with other organisations and NGOs (Valletta 2018, Friends of the Earth Malta, Fish4tomorrow, Sharklab) to clear litter from L-Irdum tal-Madonna site at L-Aħrax tal-Mellieħa.
L-Irdum tal-Madonna is one of Malta’s richest Natura 2000 protected sites. These sites contain the most threatened habitats and species in Europe. There are more than 26,000 Natura 2000 sites in Europe, covering 18% of the continent and surrounding seas.
At L-Irdum tal-Madonna, there is a colony of around 500 pairs of Yelkouan Shearwaters that breed every year. Hence, the importance to keep this site clean from litter!
Save the date for this coastal and marine clean-up and follow the Facebook event as more info will be out soon!
See you soon 🙂
