Flight for Survival

Embark with us on nature’s most incredible journey. Join us as we follow seven magnificent migratory birds on their epic #FlightForSurvival this spring!

In February 2019 we are proud to have joined BirdLife Europe & Central Asia and our European partners as the Flight for Survival campaign was launched.

Every year an average of 25,000,000 birds are killed across the Mediterranean, Northern Europe and the Caucasus. From the smallest songbirds to the most powerful birds of prey, an illegal mass slaughter of migratory birds across these regions is carried out on an annual basis: these birds are unlawfully shot, trapped or poisoned. Endangered species, already hit hard by habitat loss and climate change, are being pushed closer to extinction – and all in open defiance of the law.

This is why the European BirdLife partnership this spring has decided to follow the spectacular migratory journeys of seven birds, exposing the different dangers they face at some of the worst illegal killing blackspots along the African-Eurasian flyway.

Whilst following these seven magnificent birds on their epic flight for survival, you can donate to this campaign created by BirdLife Europe & Central Asia to raise awareness about the illegal killing of birds in Italy, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Egypt, Lebanon, Hungary and Bulgaria, and their conservation activities to fight this.
