The BirdLife Malta Events & Activities Group is a group of volunteers within Birdlife Malta who strive to raise awareness about the Maltese countryside and its environment.
The Group’s central committee organises a nature walk once a month, usually between October and May, for BirdLife Malta members and the general public. Some of the events are exclusive for members but others are open to the general public.
Our walks are leisurely, allowing participants to enjoy the natural environment around us. The main objective is birdwatching, awareness of the flora and fauna, taking photographs and enjoying the scenery. These activities take place on the weekends, mainly Sunday morning. Our experienced leaders have a good knowledge of the countryside.
During the year we plan two trips to Sicily wherein we use the services of a local guide. The day trip usually includes a country walk in the morning, followed by a late lunch at an agriturismo and the return trip to Pozzallo.
All arrangements are handled by BirdLife Malta. In past years we have also organised some weekend trips to Sicily, rather than just day trips, and recently we also started to organise similar trips for other organisations such as HSBC Bank Malta and Bank of Valletta (BOV) for whom we have also organised local nature walks and other events. Other partners we have been involved in include community groups and APS.
All our events are advertised on BirdLife Malta’s social media, so you just need to follow our socials and feel free to join us whenever you can. On most of the events BirdLife Malta members are given first preference, and participation is on a first-come, first-served basis.

The majority of our events are free of charge but registration is required since there is a capping on the maximum number of people who can attend each event.
