Welcome to ROOTED, an Erasmus+ funded project dedicated to reconnecting adults and senior citizens with nature through environmental education and community involvement, while also building bridges between generations.
Project Duration: 31.12.2024 – 30.12.2026
About the Project
ROOTED aims to bring senior citizens closer to the nature and built the bridge between generations by engaging older and younger generations in meaningful environmental activities. By sharing knowledge, experiences, and skills, the project fosters a deeper appreciation for nature while strengthening community bonds.
As part of the project, we will:
Produce a series of podcasts featuring elderly individuals sharing their memories and experiences with nature, alongside insights from environmental experts.
- Create engaging videos and articles to highlight personal connections with nature and environmental conservation.
- Organize hands-on activities and events where older adults can participate, share their perspectives, and provide valuable feedback.
- Set up interactive panels and web cameras in nature reserves.
- Develop guidelines for institutions on how to utilize small green spaces to enhance the well-being of elderly residents in care homes.
- Publish a handbook featuring diverse hiking routes and information on the bird species that can be observed along the way.
ROOTED is led by BirdLife Malta in collaboration with:
- Polish Society for the Protection of Birds (OTOP – BirdLife Poland)
- Spanish Ornithological Society (SEO – BirdLife Spain)
- Hellenic Ornithological Society (HOS – BirdLife Greece)
- Europsky Dialog (Slovakia)
Together, we are working to develop innovative resources, organize engaging events, and promote lifelong learning about nature conservation.
Stay tuned for updates, inspiring stories, and ways to get involved!
