Raptor Watch at Buskett

August 25, 2026 1:38 pm

Date: Sunday, 20 September 2026

Location: Buskett Woodlands

Time: 15:00–19:00

Autumn migration is one of the most exciting times of the year for birdwatching in Malta. As thousands of birds cross the Mediterranean on their journey south, Buskett becomes an excellent vantage point for observing raptors and other migrants. Join us on 20 September to witness this seasonal spetacle and, with a bit of luck, experience the flight of Kestrels, Marsh-harriers, Honey-buzzards, and more!

So, bring out your trusty binoculars for an afternoon of exciting sights while our expert birders can help out with the identification and fun facts of the birds of prey that we might encounter!

New to birdwatching? No problem! Whether you’re a seasoned birder or a complete beginner, all you need is a sense of curiosity and enthusiasm. Our experts will be on hand to share tips and techniques that can make a real difference on your future birdwatching adventures.

Participation is FREE; however, please register for the event on the link below.

NOTE regarding the location: Since the birdwatching session will take place in a part of Buskett that is off the beaten track, keep in mind that you will need to walk across rough terrain to reach the area. Please wear suitable footwear. We will be providing suggestions for parking locations. All information, including the meeting point, trails, and parking details, will be provided in the confirmation emails for participants.

NOTE regarding the weather: Please be aware that if the weather does not permit us to hold the session on the 20th, it will be postponed to Monday, 21 September.
