Salt Fest is back for its third edition this July!

Join us at Salina Nature Reserve for a weekend celebrating the cultural, historical and environmental heritage of Malta’s iconic Salina salt pans. Discover the story of salt harvesting, explore the reserve, meet local artisans and environmental organisations, and enjoy family-friendly activities in one of Malta’s most unique landscapes.

What to expect

Guided tours of the salt pans & Salt Museum
Explore the ancient art of salt harvesting and discover the historical role of Salina in Malta’s economy and culture. This is also a unique opportunity to step onto the salt pans themselves.

Artisan market
Browse locally made crafts, artwork and sustainable products.

Meet the people protecting Malta’s nature
Chat with local conservation groups, NGOs, discover ongoing projects, and learn how Malta’s wildlife, habitats and heritage are being protected.

Family-friendly activities
Children’s crafts, educational games and activities suitable for all ages.

Virtual reality experience
Immerse yourself in Salina like never before.

Food & drinks
Enjoy food and refreshments throughout the event.

Salt Museum & Tour Tickets

Museum only: Free
Tour + Museum: €4
Family ticket: €8 (for 2 adults + up to 2 children under 6)

Tours will run every 20 minutes between 16:15 and 19:35.

Tour start times:
16:15, 16:35, 16:55, 17:15, 17:35, 17:55, 18:15, 18:35, 18:55, 19:15, 19:35

An additional final tour at 19:45 may be added depending on demand and guide availability.

Maximum group size: 20 people per guide.
Booking early on the day is recommended.

Please note that tours may be adapted, shortened, or cancelled if flamingos or other sensitive/rare birds are present on the salt pans. Salina is first and foremost a nature reserve, and wildlife protection always comes before visitor access.

The event is family-friendly and suitable for all ages.

The Salt Museum and Visitor Centre, including the indoor market area, are fully air-conditioned.
