Weβre thrilled to welcome you back to the Sip, Savour, and Soak in Nature series this autumn, with another interesting evening planned at Salina Nature Reserve. Join us for two captivating talks, followed by light refreshments and drinks on the terrace.
The first speaker, Dr. Cynthianne Spiteri, an archaeologist and expert in Organic Residue Analysis, will delve into the study of lipid residues absorbed in ceramic vessels. Discover how this technique reveals details about ancient diets, cooking practices, and the use of natural products. Dr. Spiteri will also discuss how it can be applied to research Maltese archaeology, offering unique insights into how ancient communities lived and ate.
Our second speaker, Nicholas Galea, head of the BirdLife Malta bird ringing scheme, will introduce you to the owls of the Maltese islands, with a special focus on the Short-eared Owl. Nicholas will share insights about these secretive birdsβ lives, which, despite all odds, occasionally manage to breed successfully here.
After the talks, youβre invited to unwind with drinks on the terrace, where you can network and discuss the eveningβs topics with fellow participants.
