Date: Saturday, 5 February 2022
Time: 10:00-16:00
Location: Għadira Nature Reserve
World Wetlands Day, which is celebrated every year on 2nd February, is fast approaching, and to mark the occasion we are inviting you to Għadira Nature Reserve, one of BirdLife Malta’s protected wetland habitats, for an open day with plenty of nature-based activities and informative tours of the reserve.
Wetland habitats are so important in preserving biodiversity. Wetlands provide the foundations for numerous complex ecosystems, providing home for many forms of life from across the biosphere. Come along to Għadira Nature Reserve on 5th February to see all of the plants, insects, fish, reptiles, amphibians and birds that rely on this protected nature space.
The reserve is open from 10:00-16:00. There will be BirdLife Malta employees and volunteers on hand to give guided tours on the hour, every hour. Our education team will be on site to lead fun activities for families and children to get involved with. Alternatively, you can explore the reserve on your own accord.
There is no need to book, just turn up and enjoy the reserve at whatever time is convenient to you. Masks are required to be worn throughout your visit.
There is limited parking along the road that runs parallel to the beach due to ongoing roadworks. Parking is available further up the hill in front of Foresta 2000. Click here for the location of the parking. The reserve is easily accessible by bus as well.
