THIS EVENT IS NOW FULLY-BOOKED.

BirdLife Malta’s Events & Activities Committee will be organising their first event for 2019 in the lovely surroundings of Buskett. This will be a circular nature walk exploring the area around Malta’s only woodland. It will commence and finish at Buskett, visiting Fawwara and Girgenti and several attractions on the way.

The walk starts from the car park opposite the main gate of Verdala Palace which will be our meeting point. There is ample parking space in this area for those joining the walk.

From the meeting point we will then proceed to Buskett Gardens and onto Clapham Junction where we will visit the Cart Ruts and Għar il-Kbir. From there the route will take us through the area of Ta’ Żuta Quarry and onto Dingli’s Panoramic Road, heading towards the Bronze Age settlement and Grain Silos at the edge of Dingli Cliffs. From there we will head towards Fawwara Valley and our walk will take us through the valley passing by Our Lady of Mount Carmel Chapel and the Annuncation Chapel further on. We will then proceed through country roads to Laferla Cross at the outskirts of Siġġiewi and down to the Madonna tal-Girgenti Valley. We will then trek back to our starting point in Buskett through Wied il-Luq.

Meeting point

Our meeting point will be the car park opposite Verdala Palace. We shall meet at 08:30 sharp to commence our walk. This is an easy to moderate difficulty walk which is approximately 12km long, and suitable for all ages. Appropriate footwear is recommended as the areas we will be visiting can be slippery if wet.
