Time to explore the seabird life in the south of Malta!

BirdLife Malta has teamed up with EcoMarine Malta to discover the seabirds around the south of the island! The trip will take us offshore from Marsaskala in the area close to the fish farms where hundreds of Black Terns congregate in autumn; a spectacle not easily enjoyed from shore! September is also peak time for other species of birds carrying out their autumn migration to Africa, so with some luck we might see some other exciting species. In addition to these migratory birds, we should be able to see the locally nesting Scopoli’s Shearwaters and European Storm-Petrels. There will be two boat trips that will last around four to five hours each. The activity is open to anyone who is eager to explore the marine environment, both new and experienced birdwatchers and nature photographers. Young nature lovers are also welcome and we will also be offering a special price for people aged 18 – 25 years old. The event is only open to BirdLife Malta members. If you want to attend but you are not yet a member, join first here.

Disclaimer: There is a possibility that we will not see many birds because of weather conditions or other circumstances out of our control. This is after all part of the excitement in looking for wild birds, especially migratory ones. However, we will not be able to issue refunds because we need to cover the costs of the trip. It is understandable that the tours take place weather permitting and any cancellations due to bad weather will be rescheduled for another day. If the clients won’t be able to make it for the following tour they will be fully refunded. Thank you for understanding.
