This morning Malta’s new Minister for Sustainable Development, the Environment and Climate Change Josè Herrera this morning visited BirdLife Malta offices in Xemxija and also toured Simar Nature Reserve, which is one of the reserves managed by BirdLife Malta. This visit was to celebrate the World Environment Day which will be marked on Sunday 5th June.
The Minister was greeted by members of BirdLife Malta’s Council, CEO Mark Sultana and the staff and volunteers. In a short message delivered on this occasion, Minister Herrera stated that BirdLife Malta is one of the most important NGOs in Malta and congratulated the work this organisation does for saving the Mediterranean wildlife.
BirdLife Malta’s Chief Executive Mark Sultana explained that BirdLife Malta and the Ministry for the Environment enjoy a very good relationship and are involved together in a number of projects, including the new LIFE Arċipelagu Garnija with 25% of government funds for the project being MSDEC funds.
