Scouts

BirdLife Malta works with The Scout Association of Malta to create workshops and activities which can be run alongside the scout programme. These workshops are specifically designed for each section and fulfill the requirements of several badges. Workshops are run at our reserves and last two-three hours. A one-two hour pre-visit at your weekly meeting can also be arranged.

Venture scouts have also taken part in international youth exchanges through our Action for Nature program.

Beavers

Our nature programme for Beavers has been developed so that you can complete parts of the Outdoor and Discovery Challenge at our nature reserves.

Beavers can participate in a tour of the reserves, learning about what lives there and how we help along the way. We will provide fun and educational activities to enhance the experience of being in nature.

Cubs

Looking for fun and innovative ways to deliver your Cub Scout program? Come along to a nature reserve.

We now have specialised activities which can be used to gain parts of the Bird Lover and Naturalist Activity badges.

Cubs can observe and learn about birds in their natural surroundings and take part in a series of games and activities to learn about how animals survive in the wild.

Troop Scouts

Troop Scouts can complete parts of the Nature Badge requirements with us. This can include visiting a reserve to learn about migratory birds, having a plant identification workshop, taking part in a debate about the human impact on the environment in Malta or going for a cliff top night hike to visit some of Malta’s seabirds*.

*Only available during January, February, March and April as this is when the birds are on the cliffs. Subject to weather conditions and lunar cycles (Bright full moon will prevent the birds from calling because they are more vulnerable to predators).

Ventures

Venture Scouts can complete sections of the environmental awareness badge, Demeter, with us.

Why not volunteer at a reserve, help us create a program for the community or learn about policy and our impact on the environment during a boat trip or night hike to see Malta’s seabirds*.

Venture scouts have also taken part in international youth exchanges through our Action for Nature program.

Rovers

Rover Scouts can get involved by volunteering at our reserves. You can also join us on a boat trip or night hike to see some of Malta’s seabirds* or help with our spring and raptor watch.

18- 30 year olds are also welcome to come along to our monthly Falko events. These range from walks in the countryside to snorkelling off the coast of Gozo.
