Volunteering opportunities
Position: Multimedia Communications Assistant
Duration: 1st November 2025 – 30th October 2026 (12 Months)
DEADLINE: 30th September 2025 at 23.00 CET time
The Multimedia Communications Assistant will support BirdLife Malta’s Public Engagement team by creating engaging visual content to raise the organisation’s profile. Duties include:
- designing printed materials and the quarterly magazine,
- producing graphics for web and social media,
- editing photos and videos, and
- supporting media work during events and migration camps.

Position: Nature Reserves Visitor Assistant
Duration: 1st November 2025 – 30th October 2026 (12 Months)
DEADLINE: 30th September 2025 at 23.00 CET time
Join BirdLife Malta as a Nature Reserves Visitor Assistant and help us welcome visitors to our nature reserves – Għadira, Simar, Foresta 2000 and Salina. This role is part of the European Solidarity Corps programme, offering full-time volunteering covering accommodation, expenses and allowance.
Main duties include:
- Helping with habitat maintenance and conservation work
- Opening and preparing reserves for visitors, including weekends
- Greeting and giving visitors tours of the reserves
- Managing reception areas and nature shop while promoting BirdLife Malta membership
- Supporting educational events, tours and visitor engagement
- Assisting with research, data entry and reserve management

Position: IT Conservation Assistant
Duration: December 2025 – December 2026 (12months)
DEADLINE: 30th September 2025 at 23.00 CET time
Are you aged between 18 and 30 and keen to combine your IT skills with a passion for nature?
BirdLife Malta is looking for an IT Conservation Assistant volunteer to join our Conservation Department for an exciting European Solidarity Corps volunteering opportunity, working on technology-based projects that support bird conservation – from live bird-webcam streams and online migration atlases to digitizing valuable historical bird records. You’ll also get to join fieldwork activities and see your work in action protecting Malta’s birdlife.
The post requires a commitment of 12 months from December 2025 to December 2026 and covers full accommodation costs, expenses and a monthly allowance.
