IT Conservation Assistant – European Solidarity Corps volunteering position

Could you use your IT skills to help protect Malta’s wildlife?
BirdLife Malta is looking for a motivated volunteer with IT skills to join our Conservation Department for a 12-month European Solidarity Corps placement from December 2026 to December 2027.
This is an opportunity to apply technology to real-world conservation challenges, working alongside conservationists, researchers and fieldworkers. The role will involve projects spanning web and system development, AI-assisted data digitisation, conservation databases, wildlife rescue systems, live bird cameras, networking and online bird-tracking tools.
You will also have opportunities to take part in fieldwork and technology installations, gaining first-hand experience of how IT and data are used to support bird conservation.
The position is open to 18–30-year-olds from eligible European Solidarity Corps countries and includes accommodation, travel reimbursement, insurance and a monthly allowance.

Public Engagement Assistant – European Solidarity Corps volunteering position
Deadline 30th September 2026
Join BirdLife Malta’s Public Engagement Team and help inspire children, young people and adults to connect with birds and the natural environment.
Duties include:
- Leading educational talks, outreach activities, events, community engagement and membership activities
- Writing articles, social media content and monthly newsletters
- Supporting the delivery of Erasmus+ international projects, including events and project activities
