Volunteering opportunities

Are you aged between 18 and 30 and residing in any of the following countries, and want to start your career in conservation, in one of the most challenging countries for bird conservation?

We are looking for a conservation assistant to join our team at BirdLife Malta, in time for the autumn migration of Europe’s birds as they start crossing over the Maltese Islands to reach Africa. Bird migration brings with it various issues including illegal hunting, trapping as well as injured avifauna in need of care and protection.

If you are passionate in tackling wildlife crime and especially have experience in the sector and have a valid driving licence, you could be the ideal candidate to join our conservation team this autumn. The post shall require a commitment of 10 months from August 2025 to June 2026.

Join BirdLife Malta’s Education Team to inspire and engage with children, young people, and adults about birds and the natural environment. Duties include:

  • Lead outreach in educational talks, events, community engagement, and membership activities
  • Writing of articles, social media posts and monthly newsletters
  • Supporting our Erasmus+ international projects’ deliverables and events

Join BirdLife Malta’s Public Engagement Team as a Film Production & Photography Assistant to help raise awareness about birds, nature and our conservation work through powerful visuals. Duties include:

  • Capturing and editing photos and videos at events and in the field
  • Producing engaging video content for social media and media outlets
  • Designing promotional materials, graphics, and visuals
  • Organizing and archiving multimedia content for internal and external use

This 10-month ESC opportunity is ideal for creative individuals with strong visual storytelling skills and a passion for nature.

Are you aged between 18 and 30 and residing in any of the following countries?

Join BirdLife Malta as a Nature Reserve Volunteer and help us welcome visitors to our beautiful sites at Għadira, Simar, Foresta 2000 and Salina. You’ll assist in opening the reserves, greeting visitors, managing our nature shop, setting up displays and binoculars and sharing basic information about the site’s history, flora and fauna. You’ll also support events, collect visitor feedback, and help with research and data input.

Training is provided. Some physical work may be required during summer or when reserves are closed to the public, including habitat maintenance and monitoring. Weekend availability is essential.
