Our nature reserves have a variety of habitats, not limited to just wetlands or woodlands. At Għadira there is a very rare habitat – sand dunes! Get ready for a fun and educational day to learn more about it and see it with your own eyes! Discover the wildlife, plants, and secrets of this fragile ecosystem through hands-on experiences for all ages and visit the area which is usually not open to public. Entry is free!

Mini Sand Dune Tours – Every 30 minutes starting at 10:15 until 15:30
Short, guided walks to explore the dune habitat, meet its unique plant and animal life, and find out why it needs protection.

We will also have all day activities (10:00 – 16:00)
Sand Craft Station – Create your memory of the Sand dune and take home a reminder of why it’s important to protect them.
Microscope Corner – Explore sand grains, shells, and micro-life up close.
Plant ID – Match native dune plants and learn how they survive in sandy soils.
Sand Cricket Story – Discover our local research and the secret life of these elusive insects.
