Did you know that Malta has a unique evolutionary history? Or that birds are the only survivors of the meteorite impact that made the non-avian dinosaurs go extinct?
Join us at Salina Nature Reserve as Jop van Dijen answers these questions and delves into the evolutionary history of our planet, the origins of birds and how they ended up like the birds we know nowadays. After the talk, we will explore and identify various bones together!
Jop van Dijen is a Master’s student in Evolutionary Biology (Leiden University) with a Bachelor of Science in Forest and Nature conservation (Wageningen University & Research). Currently, he is specializing in palaeontology by working on a research project at Naturalis Biodiversity Center where he studies bird fossils that were excavated in Malta.
The event is open to all and completely free! However, registration is mandatory.
Don’t miss the unique opportunity to explore the evolutionary origins of birds and their history in Malta, ask questions and meet new people!
