We are excited to invite families and nature lovers of all ages to Moorhen Day at Simar Nature Reserve, part of BirdLife Malta’s monthly event series. As one of the last events of the year, it’s a great opportunity for individuals and families to come together, explore nature, and learn about local wildlife in a fun, engaging environment.
Throughout the day, you’ll get the chance to immerse yourself in the beauty of Simar. Whether you’re an experienced birdwatcher or new to the activity, you can enjoy observing the reserve’s birdlife up close and join our Moorhen Count, where your contributions will help monitor the population of these birds. For those who love a bit of exploration, the QR Code Hunt will guide you to hidden spots around the reserve, offering interesting facts about flora and fauna you encounter.
If you’re feeling competitive, test your knowledge with our fun and educational Moorhen Quiz. Younger visitors will be able to unleash their creativity with moorhen-themed crafts, making sure they take home wonderful memories of the day. And for those curious about seasonal bird migration, take part in our interactive Bingo to see if autumn birds are still around or if the winter species have already started to arrive.
This event is the perfect way to spend a day outdoors, learning more about Malta’s wildlife. Whether you’re attending alone or with loved ones, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in the peaceful surroundings of Simar Nature Reserve.
