Celebrate tradition at the Salina saltpans!
Join us for a delightful open weekend at Malta’s first ever Festa Melħ (Salt Fest) on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th July 2024 from 4pm to 8pm at the historical Salina saltpans to celebrate the inauguration of the new Salt Museum at Salina Nature Reserve!
Highlights of the event:
- Free entry to the new Salina Salt Museum: Discover the rich history and heritage of salt harvesting
- Food stalls: Enjoy a nice light snack and drink whilst taking in the view of the saltpans.
- Craft stands: Browse and participate in unique handmade crafts activities.
- Family-friendly activities: Fun for all ages with interactive games and educational booths and a mixture of indoor (air-conditioned) and outdoor areas.
- Kids Crafty Corner: A bird and nature crafts session where little artists can unleash their creativity and make magical masterpieces!
- Crafting with Bones, Stones, and Shells: Dive into the world of Neolithic crafts with a 90-minute workshop under the expert guidance of an experienced artisan and teacher. This activity requires prior booking and payment. There will be two workshops on Saturday, and another two on Sunday. Click on the button below to book and pay.
- Paint a Pot: Join Ġmiel bl-Idejn for a creative experience and add a touch of Maltese charm to your surroundings!
- Book presentation: Discover the magic of Ramla l-Ħamra through captivating storytelling and illustrations.

The event will be hosted by BirdLife Malta over the weekend following the official opening of the Salina Salt Museum on Friday 26th July 2024.
