Don’t miss this incredible time of the year! Visit our nature reserves to experience it first-hand. And for those interested, we have something special prepared: the Wings over Malta event, dedicated to migratory birds.
Join us on Saturday, 6th April at Għadira Nature Reserve, to discover the marvellous birds that grace us each spring and celebrate the incredible journey they undertake after months beyond our borders.
Bird migration has reached the Maltese Islands, and our reserves proudly offer a safe place for waders, warblers, thrushes, ducks, rails, and various other bird species. April marks the peak of this migration, as countless birds make their journey from Africa to Europe. The migration season is a time of wonder and magic. During this period, you never know which birds will appear, how long they’ll stay, or where precisely in the reserve you’ll find them.
All day you can:
- Explore the reserve’s diverse habitats following an explanation by our visitor assistants
- Learn fascinating facts about migratory birds and their remarkable journeys
- Contribute to our communal flock garland at the visitor centre, symbolizing unity and conservation efforts
- If you are a tourist here, put a bird track from your homeland to Malta on our map
- The younger nature enthusiasts can explore the reserve with our Spring Bingo
Immerse yourself in the joys of birdwatching and bird listening, whether you’re a seasoned enthusiast or a newcomer to the world of birds.
The migration season is a time of magic and mystery, where every sighting brings a sense of excitement and wonder. Don’t miss this opportunity to witness nature’s marvels up close at Għadira Nature Reserve.
