Date: Sunday, 18 February 2024
Time: 08:30–13:00
Location: Buskett (meeting at Verdala Palace)
BirdLife Malta’s Events & Activities Committee will be organising another walk in the lovely surroundings of Buskett. This will be a circular nature walk exploring the area around Malta’s largest woodland. It will commence and finish at Buskett, visiting Fawwara and Girgenti and several attractions on the way.
The walk starts at 08.30 from the bus stop (Verdala) opposite the main gate of Verdala Palace which will be our meeting point. There is ample parking space in this area for those joining the walk. Please be there at 08:15.
We will proceed to Buskett Gardens and the route will take us through the area of Ta’ Żuta Quarry and onto Dingli’s Panoramic Road, heading towards the Bronze Age settlement and Grain Silos at the edge of Dingli Cliffs. From there we will head towards Fawwara Valley and pass by Our Lady of Mount Carmel Chapel and the Annuncation Chapel further on. We will then proceed through country roads to Laferla Cross at the outskirts of Siġġiewi and down to the Madonna tal-Girgenti Valley. We will then trek back to our starting point in Buskett through Wied il-Luq.
The walk is an easy-to-moderate difficulty walk with some inclines and rough terrain and is approximately 12 km long, and suitable for all ages. Appropriate footwear is recommended as the areas we will be visiting can be slippery if wet.
Participation is free and open to all. However, booking is required. Donations are welcome.
