Date: Thursday, 9 November 2023
Time: 18:30-20:30
Location: Salina Nature Reserve (Visitor Centre)
BirdLife Malta’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) for 2023 will be held on Thursday 9th November at Salina Nature Reserve’s Visitor Centre, starting at 6:30pm.
This annual event is open only for fully paid-up adult BirdLife Malta members residing in Malta and Gozo.
The AGM will open as usual with the President’s address and will include the presentation of the Financial Statements and Operational Report for 2022. We will also dedicate a moment during the meeting in memory of Dominic Cutajar, one of the founding members of BirdLife Malta (at the time, Malta Ornithological Society), who passed away earlier in August. A detailed agenda will be communicated at a date closer to the event.
This year’s Annual General Meeting will also confirm the new BirdLife Malta Council for the next two years. Nominations for a seat on the Council closed on 21st August and the process was overseen by an Electoral Commission led by Commissioner Joseph Mangion.
BirdLife Malta received 11 candidate applications for the Council election and as per statute this is the number of members that constitute the BirdLife Malta Council, which means that there will not be an election. The candidates are:
- James Aquilina
- Miriam Camilleri
- Denise Casolani
- Norman Chetcuti
- Darryl Grima
- Eurydike Kovacs
- Caldon Mercieca
- Paul Portelli
- Kathleen Psaila Galea
- Raphael Soler
- Steve Zammit Lupi
All BirdLife Malta Members have received a letter informing them of the applicants. During the AGM the new Council members will be introduced and the members present for the meeting will need to approve them.
The list of candidates for this year’s Council election and their biographies can be found below or here (PDF format).
