This year, to celebrate European Maritime Day our LIFE Arċipelagu Garnija project is collaborating with Eco Marine Malta, Global Mindset Development – GMD Malta, Imperial Band Club, artist Sara Pace Sant, Tunnara Museum and Oh Yeah Malta Cruises and water sports to organise a day dedicated to the sea, to awareness and respect!
The LIFE Arcipelagu Garnija project team of BirdLife Malta will explain their activities and introduce you to the wonderful world of seabirds. Do you know how many species of seabirds live in Malta, and where these birds nest? Are seabirds endangered? What can we do to protect them? We’ll be happy to answer all the questions you may have. We are preparing a fantastic game for kids about the threats seabirds face. Participating families will find out what they can do to contribute to our effort in protecting these species.
We will also talk about the marine ecosystem, introduce you to the whales and dolphins of the Mediterranean Sea, create plastic whales to talk about pollution from plastic and beyond. With this experience, we aim to promote cultural awareness and marine education in an enjoyable, engaging and emotional way.
