The BirdLife Malta Events and Activities Group recently organised another successful trip to Sicily.
The four-day long weekend trip was immediately fully-booked by our members and we are already planning another trip which will take place in May. Booking for this day trip opened earlier last week.
During the long weekend trip held between the 21st and the 24th of March, BirdLife Malta – with the assistance of Legambiente (Noto branch) – organised different nature walks and trekking events to some of the most beautiful gorges and woodlands on the largest island in the Mediterranean.
The weekend event included 30km of walking/trekking in three different nature reserves. These areas comprise Noto Antica which runs along the Cava Carosello, Cavagrande del Cassibile and the Valle dell’Anapo.
Participants also visited the Parco Archeologico della Neapolis and the island of Ortygia in Syracuse. Places of interest included the famous Greek Theatre, Herion Altar, Ear of Dionysius and the Roman amphitheatre on the mainland and Temple of Apollo, Archimedes Square, Il Duomo, Fonte Aretusa, the church of Santa Lucia and the Maniace Castle on the island.
Details about BirdLife Malta’s events are constantly updated on our website here. BirdLife Malta members are given priority on such activities. Those who may wish to join BirdLife Malta can do so here.
