Ten-T Ghadira Road Project: Environmental NGOs to file complaint to the EU

Environmental NGOs Flimkien ghal Ambjent Ahjar, Nature Trust Malta, Ramblers Association of Malta, Din L-Art Helwa, Friends of the Earth Malta, GAIA Foundation, and BirdLife Malta will be lodging a formal complaint to the EU, if MEPA fails to refuse the proposed TEN-T Ghadira road project.

High waves at Ghadira send a message to Transport Minister

The high waves noted at Ghadira Bay on Wednesday, a phenomenon known as the 'milghuba' or 'seiche', demonstrated that the removal of the existing road as proposed by the Transport Ministry without conducting proper studies, could pose a serious threat to the Ghadira valley and those parts of the Nature Reserve below the sea level, BirdLife stated today.

BirdLife slams Austin Gatt for misusing the adi report

BirdLife Malta today slammed the Transport Minister Austin Gatt for presenting a document which was commissioned by the Seabank Hotel owner Sylvio Debono 5 years ago, as some sort of evidence to prove his allegation that the existing road is causing the erosion of the Ghadira beach.

Proposed road may cause irreversible damage to EU protected site

BirdLife Malta today issued a position paper outlining the conservation organisation's objections to the proposed new road in Ghadira on the basis that it will cut through and cause the loss of habitat in an EU protected site, while removing the existing road could have potentially irreversible impacts on the Ghadira valley.

Proposed Ghadira road cuts through the Foresta site

Foresta 2000 project partners BirdLife Malta and Din l-Art Helwa today confirmed that the TEN- T road project in Ghadira would cut through Phases 2 and 3 of the Foresta site, contrary to Minister Gatt's claims.
